Ramblings of a mountain biker from Chico, CA. Also have fun with a website to setup rides, advocate for our sport and help with local trails. Occasionally saddle up to a road bike as well

First Trail ride in weeks!

Trails OPEN! Went out on a ride with Don Curtis tonight - started as potential road ride until we found out that the trails in Bidwell were open. Good pace and lots of traffic in lower park and then headed up Blue Oak - lots of good work done on the lower end to divert water damage but lots to be done to the upper section still. Headed down Maidu - the adopted trail for the Chico Mtn Bikers club (CMB) and there will be lots to do on that trail during our first maintenance day this Sat. 22nd. Met up with the Tues/Thurs crew and headed out Middle Trail / Met Mike and also riding was Steve C, Doug, Bob, Denny and Byron. Great to be on the singletrack again. Great pace and definitely out of shape - had a hard time keeping up - Don, Steve & I headed up the rest of trail and the other peeled off just before Bear Hole. Bob met us Salmon Hole on the road and headed back to ride with Mike. The three of us headed up the road to the end and met up with Byron and then headed back on the road - trying to beat the sun going down. Nice mellow ride and a realization that the legs are not in the shape I thought they were....especially with the Lemurian and the Wildflower coming up in 2 weeks....back to back....should be fun to post my thoughts after that weekend! Hardest race I've ever been in and then the next day a first shot at a century ride - longest ride on the road ever...good times are ahead.
